Champion's Corner
#41
Aylis looked over his hands a bit, before his gaze traveled back to Drake and Co. Phoenix really did tend to fry most of the circuits around here. Perhaps he'd have to make a concentrated effort to talk to the bird about HIS behavior as well. Surprisingly enough, sometimes he felt like the maid in this group. ... Or the mother. Or the father. Either one of those was an apt description. Then again, Healing. It sort of went with the territory.

"I think we could all do with some food." he brought up, not really meaning to interrupt Eira, just... trying to diffuse the blatant tension in the room. "I think I'll go make something for everyone. Sandwiches alright? I promise not to put grass in yours this time, Drake."

(Not a fan of conflict, this one. XD Aylis looks quite a bit younger than he actually is. He looks about.. mid-to-late teens, as per the picture... but he's actually somewhere around the hundreds in terms of actual age. At least that's the way I imagined it.)

Drake winces at Eira's question about the curse. This was exactly the sort of subject he was hoping to avoid.

Delaying, he turns to Aylis first.

"Hold the vegetables and bread too. Anything that's not meat actually. Devout carnivore and all. Thanks."

He flashes the unicorn a smile. Food and avoiding awkward situations are enough motivation for him to try and be a little friendly.

He glances towards Eira, knowing that a sandwich order was unlikely to distract her. Seeing her attention still on him, he sighs, slumping in his seat and staring at the flood. He raises his right hand, still not looking up, to show the seal on it.

"Its not a traditional curse. It's a human magic array laid on me by some human insurgent that got lucky. It blocks my access to Bahamut. I can barely access my magic, or my true form."

He looks up and waves his hand dismissively.

"A nuisance, but I am working to have it rectified."

(In general, Solifidian magic comes from their natural connection to Bahamut while most humans require some sort of tool to access Bahamut's power such as spell arrays, wands, or potions. Solifidians will occasionally use human methods to achieve specific ends (such as Drake's teleportation spell at the start), but their find such artificial interactions with Bahamut uncomfortable. Drake's seal is human in origin.)

(In terms of Solifidian aging, the appearance of their human form is somewhat artificial. It reflects more of a mental state than a reality. Most settle into the twenties range and rarely progress further than middle age, but a few manifest a more venerable appearance. Rarely, they will maintain a childlike appearance.)

"Food's always welcome." Trevor comments, with a nod, once his wounds are healed up. He grabs his jacket and looks it over, with a sigh. "Could've just burned fur off, really, Drake. I liked this jacket." he states, pulling the thing back over his bare chest. It was really the only article of clothing he brought with him, he'd hadn't needed anything else.

"But yeah, I'll eat just about anything, really. Lemme help you out, Aylis, I make a mean Italian cold cut." called Revelry, moving to help, whether he's invited or not.

(I almost wish I took Trickster, or Dream now. I'd totes have a champion who appears child-like. XD I'd have the perfect idea for Dream, an Alpdrucken, not that Mermaids aren't awesome. Tongue)

Aylis proceeded to the area where the food was made, and leaned against the counter for a moment, blinking at the stone cooktop. Once he was sure they were out of earshot of the others, he confided in Trevor quietly.

"Just once, I'd like to have a get-together with the others that doesn't end in bloodshed, tears, angst, or arrogance. And yes, that last one was directed at Phoenix." he muttered, before stirring himself, and starting to prepare a lot of sandwiches... and one hunk of cooked meat. Personally, he couldn't stomach the stuff, but if it was for Drake? He could bear cooking it.

He sighed while cutting some slices of bread. "I like you guys. All of you. I do. I suppose it's my soft heart, but there you go." Healing did tend to make him a bit of a softie, but it was what it was. "Is it so bad to wish that people might actually be able to keep their tempers for the space of one evening? I mean, I can understand it. Fully. I can. I can even understand the posturing and the holier-than-thou attitude some Champions have, but..." He shook his head quietly. "While I can understand it, it doesn't make any sense to me on a personal level. While your burns were minor, Trevor... it's not the only time I've been called on to heal while around the others."

Casting a glance at Revelry, he started to slice a tomato, succeeding mostly in making a mess of it. But he really wasn't paying that much attention. "Personally, I think I need advice. Do I just need to loosen up? Or is there really something that needs to be done about all this... tension... between us all?"

(Sorry about him. XD He's feeling a bit lost among the crowd. Trevor seems to be pretty anchored right now, so he's reaching out with his issues. XD)

Sierra looked to Aylis, "I'll take some food too. Carnivore as well here." She was much more relaxed now that Phoenix was gone. "I don't generally try to cause any harm. I just try to maintain the Loom of Fate as my patron commands."

[Sierra was born in the Information Age. Not sure exactly how long she would've been Fate's champion.

Sorry for the lack of response. Things were a bit hectic here.]

"Dude, it's always like this." Trevor comments, as he goes through cabinets and other such places looking for condiments, oils, vinegars, spices. He pulls out various different ones, setting them down. "When Phoenix shows up, all hell breaks loose. Some of the others, they can be even worse, sometimes. Depending on the situation. But, yeah, most of the time it's Phoenix."

The satyr swings around, snatching a piece of bread from the pile being cut up, and munches on it, unceremoniously. "All and all, though, yeah. All I ever want too, is people t'sit down, shut up, and enjoy themselves. That's my job. Thing is, we so rarely gather like this, people tend to forget that, most of us, we were people. Once. Before we became Champions." Revely goes on, munching on another piece of bread. This time with a mushroom on it, where the hell did that come from?

"Take Drake for example," the satyr starts, mouth full of food. "He had it all. Family. Friends. Allies. Then dragons got fucked by humanity, so I don't blame him for being like he is most of the time. Dude's got problems. I only try to help by being there for him." he explains, with a vague gesture of his hands. "Revelry and Fire, they go hand in hand, sometimes, 'cause Fire's always a thing during parties." he explains, reaching for another piece of bread, but he stops himself this time, instead turning to rummage for other things.

"Campfires. Hearthfires. Candlefires. Burning buildings. The works, plus that sense of passion, that sheer flame that burns in us all. So I feel an obligation, to help him as much as I can." he says, rifling through various things, before coming across some meats, cheeses, even a bottle of wine.

"Fuck yeah, jackpot! Knew there had to be something left." he grins wide, swishing the bottle near his ear. "Heheh. Sweet sweet nectar. Probably only enough for one glass per person, though, a shame." the satyr muses, brushing off the label. "Hrm. Can't make out the year, or the make. Should be fine though, wine lasts forever."

To Aylis, he turns, setting the bottle down, nearby. "As for you, my pointy unicorn friend, you should relax." he comments, resting his hands on the other champion's shoulders, and proceeds to give him a shoulder massage without much warning. "Ain't nothing wrong with having a soft heart, it's part of the job, for most of us. Some of us need that trait more then others, which is why people like us, exist." Trevor says, with a grin.

"Just take a breath, make some food, go out there with a big ol' smile, and lets get this party started. Phoenix'll be Phoenix. I got plans to get him back, just need the right time." he offers, that grin turning into a mischievous smirk.

"Which," he starts, with a dramatic pause, "Considering his track record'll probably be a while longer, but don't worry about him, he'll get what's coming. Schoolyard crap is hardly the way of Solidifans, but sometimes, they need to be reminded that they're still people. Like I said." he pulls back, and circles around, snatching a bit of lettuce, which he proceeds to munch on, unceremoniously.

(Yep. I think I got the idea of revelry down pat. Even the goat-like traits, munching on anything, and everything. But yeah, I think it's a safe assumption that Trevor's probably younger then Drake, but has helped him out a number of times in the past. Reminding people that they're still people, is a main thing when it comes to letting go of their problems for even a single night, and enjoying the things that are worth enjoying. Which, probably, is why Revelry and Healing get along so well, clearly. They're both there to help. Heal. Understand. Etc. It's neat.)

Sierra grinned, "I'd say we still are people. We have more responsibilities now." Her tail flicked behind her. Trevor had mentioned getting party started.

An impish grin formed on the Champion of Fate's face, "Anyone up for a game of riddles? I promise it'll just be for fun."

[I have to agree, Onasaki. You've got Revelry down. I apologize in advance for anyone who isn't good at riddles. If you feel your characters would be better at them than you are, feel free to look up the answers. Sierra will be sad if she can't stump some people though.]

Aylis sighed, and shook his head a little, building another sandwich while he thought. He paused when he turned to get another plate, the whole concept of this conflict just... washing over him. As well as Revelry's advice.

"Maybe I don't know how to relax." the unicorn admitted, with a slight cant of his head. "I've always traveled after those who may want me... I've always watched. And, when asked or truly needed, I always help. I can't stop doing that. I can't stop being that. I don't... actually know what I can do to relax, Trevor."

He broke off at the mention of riddles, and nodded to Sierra. "I'd be game, although I'm afraid I'm not very good at them. Logic does not for a riddle-solver make in most cases. Perhaps I might stand a chance with the easier ones."

[Sorry I haven't posted lately! I've been a bit on the running-around-busy side. XD I'm back now, though!]

Sierra felt sorry for the unicorn. She couldn't make him relax, but maybe if he got his mind off helping people he would be able to relax. "Here's an easy one just for you then, Aylis." She grinned and began the riddle.

"What is the creature that walks on four legs in the morning, two legs at noon and three in the evening?"

[No problem, Aylis. Sierra was going to avoid this one since it was made so popular by the sphinx in Oedipus Rex. It's the classic riddle of the sphinx so now everyone knows the answer to it.]

Esa mainly sat and listened throughout the ordeal. Well, half listened. For some of the conversations, she had begun daydreaming and thinking about other things. It didn't really help that she was clueless within these topics. Plus, Esa didn't think it was her place to really intervene. She thought it better to sit idly by without angering or annoying any of the other champions.

Esalia was heavily interested in the thought of food. Being from the sea, her main food group is fish but she can pretty much eat any other kinds of food. Esa hadn't eaten in a while and food sounded great right about now. While sitting in her seat and daydreaming about her favorite foods, Esa began to swing her legs back and forth in her seat.
